Remedy Metals develops an electrochemical method to filter and separate rare earth elements from ores and recycled materials. The company says its process dramatically reduces environmental impact, cutting CO2 emissions per tonne of produced or separated rare earths from 18 tonnes to under 0.1 tonne and reducing the number of purification steps by a factor of 20. Remedy aims to support a circular economy by recovering rare earths from discarded products in European waste streams and supplying purified material to magnet manufacturers in France and Germany. The startup highlights the strategic goal of reducing Europe's dependence on China, which currently accounts for the majority of rare earth production. Following its recent fundraise of over €2 million, Remedy is using the proceeds to pursue industrial validation of its technology and scale development toward deployment.
