Rentcycle operates a marketplace and directory for product rentals across categories like tools, party equipment, sports and apparel, enabling consumers to search, compare and rent items online. For merchants it offers cloud-based management solutions to bring brick-and-mortar rental operations online and manage inventory, reservations and payments. The company graduated from the Founder Institute in 2009 and has gone through several beta launches, with its most recent iteration going live in March. Since that relaunch Rentcycle has grown to 30,000 monthly active users. Management says the product-rental industry is an $85 billion space and the platform targets aggregation of many mom-and-pop rental stores. The company has added advisors Marc Randolph and Chuck Templeton (Templeton joining the board).
