RepairSmith operates a mobile auto-repair platform that lets customers book online and have a technician perform inspections or repairs at their driveway. Launched in 2019 out of Mercedes‑Benz’s incubator, the startup is active in seven states and reports roughly 90% of appointments are completed on-site. About a little over a quarter of its business is B2B, serving fleets, rental agencies and dealerships, with the remainder consumer-focused. Technicians are employed rather than contracted, a deliberate choice to attract and retain qualified staff. For jobs that cannot be completed in the field (around 10%), RepairSmith tows vehicles to partner body shops. The company has built its own software and logistics platform and plans to expand into all major U.S. metropolitan areas by the end of 2022.
