Repixl is a two-person UK startup that launched out of private beta and offers photo retouching-as-a-service through a cloud web app. The service provides unlimited photo uploads and storage, a preset menu of 66 outsourced editing options, and a promised 24-hour turnaround. Editing options include removing blemishes or people, smoothing skin, fixing teeth, changing backgrounds, and adjusting focus. Jobs are priced off-the-shelf from £0.28 to £8 depending on complexity, added to a virtual basket and paid at checkout. The founders, James Bradley and Mark Stringer, built the desktop-like browser experience to allow multiple batches and albums without plugins or Flash. Repixl was backed by £100k of private funding and was almost two years in development prior to launch.
