Replica Studios develops a voice AI platform described as a “Photoshop for voice” that analyzes around five minutes of audio to recreate and modify voices, including pitch and emotion. The company positions itself as “not a deepfake company.” Last week it closed a US$2.5 million (A$3.7 million) raise to propel the technology into its next stage of growth. Investors come from both Silicon Valley and Sydney. Replica plans to capitalise on demand from the U.S. while also pursuing opportunities in the less competitive Australian market. Co-founder and CEO Shreyas Nivas said the startup found itself “out of the blue” in the right place at the right time.
