Södermalmsallén 36, Stockholm, Stockholms Län, 118 28, Sweden

Overview

Resolution Games builds VR and AR games and was an early entrant to the space, having launched in 2015. The studio is led by Tommy Palm, known for his role at King on Candy Crush Saga. Resolution says it weathered a period of limited technology and a small market and now sees the VR market maturing. Management plans to raise quality standards for VR experiences and to scale the business as the market grows. The company says the new capital will be used to accelerate growth and scale. Resolution has raised $38.5 million in total to date. Resolution Games is a Stockholm-based game development studio that focuses on augmented and virtual reality experiences. Its portfolio includes VR fishing simulator Bait!, Wonderglade, Narrows, Solitaire Jester, and the Magic Leap third-party title Angry Birds FPS: First Person Slingshot. The studio targets a wide audience from casual players to hardcore gamers and emphasizes immersive experiences. Management says it sees growing industry interest in its titles and expects new platforms such as the Oculus Quest to drive larger player volumes and a viable multiplayer market. Financially, Resolution Games recently raised $7.5 million in funding at a post-money valuation of $87.5 million. The round attracted participation from a broad group of strategic and venture investors. Resolution Games develops virtual reality games and positions itself away from traditional mobile puzzle titles. The studio is led by co-founder and CEO Tommy Palm, formerly of King and widely credited for the success of Candy Crush Saga, alongside co-founder Måns Ullerstam, who previously worked on Lifestylers and headed Rebtel. Resolution has attracted notable investor interest and recently closed a $6 million financing round. The round was led by Google Ventures and included Creandum, Partech Ventures, Initial Capital, and Bonnier Growth Media. Bonnier called the investment "the biggest investment round for a VR game developer ever" in its press release.
