Overview
resTORbio is developing RTB101, an orally administered, selective Target of Rapamycin Complex 1 (TORC1) inhibitor intended as a first-in-class immunotherapy to address immunosenescence. RTB101 is being evaluated alone and in combination with everolimus in a Phase 2b trial to reduce the incidence of respiratory tract infections (RTIs) in elderly subjects at increased risk of RTI-related morbidity and mortality. The company reports promising safety and efficacy signals from two Phase 2a studies that together enrolled almost 500 elderly subjects. If Phase 2b is successful, resTORbio plans to advance RTB101 into a Phase 3 clinical program and to expand the program into additional aging-related indications via a separate Phase 2 trial. The company highlights that there are currently no FDA-approved therapies that improve immune function in the elderly to reduce RTI incidence. resTORbio is an affiliate of PureTech Health and is based in Boston.
