The product enables patients to frequently track eye-health risk and receive guidance for diabetes management, and it helps health systems prioritize high-risk patients and reduce unnecessary screenings. The algorithm was developed over a decade of research and the app launched for iOS and Android in 2019. In 2020 RetinaRisk began monetizing the app at $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year, and one year into monetization the team reported growth and improvement in patients' conditions. The app has been downloaded in multiple countries by nearly 800,000 users and the company aimed for over one million users in 2021. RetinaRisk also provides an API for healthcare IT integration to automate early detection and streamline diabetic retinopathy screening.
