Retym designs a programmable coherent digital signal processing (DSP) chip intended to speed internal and external communications within data centers. Its chips do not process AI workloads directly and are not positioned as GPU competitors to Nvidia. The company is using TSMC’s 5nm process for its first chip, which is currently being tested. Retym was founded in 2021 and had been largely quiet until announcing this Series D. The startup has raised a total of $180M to date. Retym says it aims to bring competition to a DSP market historically dominated by a handful of large semiconductor companies such as Marvell.
