REVL, a Y Combinator Winter 2016 company, launched the REVL Arc — a 4K smart action camera with an integrated motorized gimbal that keeps the view level with the horizon. The Arc includes built-in sensors that track altitude, speed and rotation to detect activity and drive a smart editing algorithm that highlights notable clips. The camera is waterproof up to 10 feet, offers Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and provides about 90 minutes of 4K recording per battery charge. REVL’s app focuses on quick shoot‑edit‑share workflows and can overlay telemetry like altitude and speed on videos. Backers including Y Combinator, Bill Tai, James Lindenbaum and Lars Rasmussen contributed a total of $2 million in seed funding. The camera launched on Indiegogo and was scheduled to ship in December 2016.
