Revolar is a wearable hardware-and-app personal-safety device that notifies friends and family when a user is scared, alerts authorities if in trouble, and can simulate a phone call to help the user exit a situation. The device pairs with iOS and Android, can send GPS data when activated, and also acts as a beacon to help find keys or a purse. A single unit costs $59 and there is no subscription fee; the included battery lasts about one year. The team is already manufacturing units and plans to ship in May. Revolar has roots in the founders' personal experiences: co-founder Jacqueline Ros launched the company after her sister was assaulted, and the other co-founder drew on a family kidnapping experience in Colombia. Revolar builds a small wearable (keychain or under‑clothing) device paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth that sends locationed alerts to preset contacts. The concave button is designed to be hard to press accidentally and supports a one‑press “yellow” alert and a rapid double‑press “red” alert for emergencies. The product targets personal safety use cases such as assault prevention, solo running, travel, and medical emergencies, and has drawn interest from hearing‑ and visually‑impaired users. Revolar exhibited at Techstars’ CES booth and offers preorders, with shipping expected in the spring. The Denver‑based company grew from three to 15 employees over the prior year and went through the 2015 Boulder Techstars accelerator. Financially, Revolar raised $3 million from The Foundry Group to support product development and growth.
