Rex Computing is a fabless semiconductor startup developing high-performance, energy-efficient processors, notably the REX Neo. The REX Neo targets 256 GFLOPs of double-precision floating point performance within a smartphone-class package and power budget. The company is focused on computationally intensive application spaces including digital signal processing, image processing, computer vision and machine learning. Rex is working with early customers in those fields and expects first silicon to ship to customers in 2016. The company was founded in 2013 by Thomas Sohmers and Paul Sebexen and is based in San Francisco. Rex raised $1.25m in seed funding to support continued development and deployment of its processor and is actively hiring.
