RheaVita
Poortakkerstraat 9C, Ghent, Oost-Vlaanderen, 9051, Belgium
Overview
RheaVita has developed the world’s first end-to-end continuous freeze-drying technology that integrates all traditional freeze-drying process steps into a single continuous production line. The patented system spins glass vials during freezing to create a thin product layer and uses a digital twin to support process development, maintenance, and operator training. The technology aims to accelerate product and process development, avoid scale-up issues, reduce cycle times and costs, and deliver uniform, controlled product quality for modalities including gene therapies, RNA-based therapies, antibodies, vaccines, and precision medicines for rare diseases. RheaVita plans to commercialize R&D and GMP-compliant continuous freeze-drying production-scale equipment and to install its first GMP-compliant production line. The company will continue offering product feasibility studies and product/process development services to customers. RheaVita was founded in 2018 as a spin-out of Ghent University and is based in Ghent, Belgium.
