Riffusion offers a free-to-use app that generates short, shareable music "riffs" from natural-language prompts or voice recordings, producing lyrics, singing and custom artwork in seconds. The upgraded product is powered by a model the team trained from scratch and fine-tuned on spectrogram images tagged with musical styles. The founders, Seth Forsgren and Hayk Martiros, launched Riffusion as a hobby project that went viral — millions of people tried the original site — and the platform has been cited in research from Meta, Google and ByteDance. The company is six people strong and is being advised by The Chainsmokers. Riffusion says it aims to grow the team and build complementary generative-AI products to broaden use cases for music creation. Financially, the company recently closed a $4M seed round and currently has no clear monetization strategy disclosed.
