Rig.dev has developed an open-source solution built on top of Kubernetes that helps developers build scalable backend and cloud infrastructure more quickly while retaining developer control. The product targets backend and cloud developers by reducing the complex DevOps and infrastructure work required to deploy and scale applications. The company emerged from structured hypothesis testing and many conversations with developers; early prototyping began as a two-person team and focused on strong user engagement and community building. Co-founders Thor Christensen and Anders Johnsen (formerly at Uber and Google) say the platform gives developers flexibility to choose databases and technologies while providing a consistent framework as projects grow. Rig.dev positions itself to make Kubernetes-based deployments easier for both experienced and newer developers.
