Ringadoc

1520 Stockton St, San Francisco, CA, 94133-3354, United States

Overview

Ringadoc is a San Francisco-based provider of a cloud-based doctor-patient communication platform. The platform lets doctors prioritize patients, centralize communications, and manage after-hours calls on any device. Led by CEO and co-founder Jordan Michaels, the company charges $49 a month for its service. Ringadoc intends to use newly raised funds to expand its offering to physicians' offices nationwide and to further improve the platform. The company recently raised an additional $700K in seed funding, bringing the total for the round to $1.9M. Investors in the round include FF Angel, Siemer VC, Telegraph Hill Group, Dr Lyle Dennis, Ryan Howard and Sharon Knight. Ringadoc offers a mobile-first platform (Ringadoc Exchange and iOS/Android apps) that enables doctors to triage and handle patient calls from their smartphones. The company originally set out to provide on-demand access for patients to reach doctors at any hour, then shifted to build tools doctors could use to manage calls for their own patients. The Exchange product is free for three months and then costs $50/month; Ringadoc plans features to let doctors charge patients for calls, accept calls from outside their patient pool, and offer premium access and cross-coverage functionality. The platform was built with support from Practice Fusion, and Practice Fusion founder and CEO Ryan Howard serves on Ringadoc’s board and was an early investor. Ringadoc currently covers more than 500,000 patients in over 20 U.S. states. With new funding, the company aims to expand usage and develop additional revenue streams for medical practices. Ringadoc provides on-demand access to real doctors via a toll-free phone number and a patient app, matching users with physicians who can diagnose, prescribe, and advise on next steps. It charges a flat fee of $39.99 per consultation with no time limit and operates outside traditional insurance billing. Currently available in California and a few other states, the company positions itself as “the frontline of primary care” and aims to reduce unnecessary ER visits. Ringadoc is testing iOS and Android apps with real-time video and plans to pull in data from medical and fitness devices so doctors could measure vitals remotely. The seed funding announced will pay for key hires and development of a direct-to-doctor product physicians can distribute to their patients. Founders and investors see the service as a way to change patient-to-doctor communication and potentially spur insurers to offer similar access.
