Ringya is an iPhone app that converts printed contact lists and business cards into named, shareable contact groups using a combination of OCR and human support. Users can snap a photo of a paper list or multiple business cards at once and Ringya places the contacts into a group for calling, group texting, emailing, or sharing. The app also supports manual entry, emailing in digital lists, and importing from the address book, and offers contextual caller ID that shows a contact's title, company or description. Ringya was founded by Gal Nachum, Kobi Hecht, Arie Gofer and Yoram Goren and today operates with a team of eight. The company maintains offices in Chicago (U.S.) and Israel. Ringya has raised $1.5 million in venture capital from undisclosed investors based in Luxembourg, New York and Israel. Android users can sign up to be notified when an Android version is released.
