Overview
Spun out of regenerative-medicine firm RION, Rion Vet leverages exclusive global rights to the Purified Exosome Product (PEP™) platform that originated from more than two decades of Mayo Clinic research. Its lead candidate, ePEP-01, is a shelf-stable biologic aimed at treating equine musculoskeletal disease and has demonstrated meaningful lameness improvements and a strong safety profile in over four years of studies involving more than 50 horses. The company is building a broader pipeline targeting canine musculoskeletal disease, atopic dermatitis, wound healing, ocular, respiratory, and cardiac conditions, collectively representing an estimated $8–12 billion global market opportunity. Rion Vet’s exosome manufacturing process is designed to deliver consistent, scalable, and convenient therapies to veterinarians worldwide. Industry veteran Mark Herthel, co-founder and former CEO of Platinum Performance, has been appointed CEO to steer the commercial launch and pipeline expansion. Financially, the company has secured a $15 million Series A round to fund continued product development and regulatory progress. These proceeds position Rion Vet to seek FDA CVM approval for ePEP-01 and to advance additional preclinical programs.
