Riva is a global payments company blending traditional and blockchain payments to modernise B2B cross-border transfers. Its infrastructure uses stablecoins as a core application and can route transfers through blockchain rails or fiat-to-fiat channels to optimise speed and cost. The company aims to bypass poor exchange rates and slow settlement times—cross-border transfers can take as long as five days—by increasing speed, transparency and cost-efficiency. Founded by Niklas Hoejman and Mahendra Katoch, former Revolut and Wise employees with backgrounds at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, the company raised $3 million in a pre-seed round led by Project A. Riva will use the funding to grow operations, expand its engineering team, roll out services across Europe, Asia and North America, and pursue UK/EU payment institution authorisations as well as MiCA and VASP licences in the EU and Switzerland.
