Riverse

Lyon, Rhone-Alpes, France

Overview

Riverse operates a carbon-crediting standard and marketplace focused on engineered climate solutions, including IT refurbishment, biomass carbon removal, bio-based building materials and enhanced rock weathering. The company developed the Riverse Standard, a scientifically rigorous framework that measures and verifies emissions reductions and removals using industrial data and models aligned with ISO 14064-2. Riverse says its platform has validated more than 60 projects, issued over 250,000 credits and collected more than 2,000 data points, and it has received full ICROA endorsement under the organisation’s revised standards. The startup aims to improve trust and relevance in voluntary carbon markets by connecting credits to industry, geography and value chains. With new funding it plans to double down on platform growth, expand its team and deepen partnerships with buyers and project developers across Europe and beyond. The company positions itself as addressing rising corporate demand for higher-integrity, more transparent carbon credits amid tightening regulation and scrutiny of net-zero claims. Riverse focuses on decarbonizing the European industrial sector by enabling industrial GreenTech SMEs to issue carbon credits quickly and at low cost. The company’s software digitizes the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) process, using comparative life cycle assessments, digital reports for independent third‑party auditors, automated verification, and a registry linked to a network of carbon credit resellers. Riverse targets circular economy projects close to the value chain of companies seeking quality carbon credits. It works with sales partners such as Ceezer, Sweep, and Greenly and has certified nine projects including Ecodair, Cycle Up, and Be Energy, with more than ten additional projects in certification. Founded in 2021 by Ludovic Chatoux, Grégoire Guirauden, and Clément Georget, the company raised €1.5M and plans to use the funds to grow the team, further develop the platform, and expand into Germany and the UK.
