Rivigo
Plot No. 90, Sector - 44, Gurugram, Haryana, 122003, India
Overview
Rivigo operates a technology platform that tracks and manages shipments, ensures driver availability, maximizes truck loading, and automatically rotates drivers so trucks keep moving while drivers get rest. Drivers use a mobile app to navigate and accept assignments, and the company combines a freight marketplace with ownership of its own fleet, distinguishing it from pure aggregators. Rivigo has recently launched a National Freight Index to show live tariff rates across lanes and vehicles and aims to broaden relay trucking across India. The company plans to use new capital to expand its network and technology infrastructure. Financially, Rivigo reported $105 million in revenue for the fiscal year ending in March, a 77% year-over-year increase, while losses widened to $35 million. The startup is five years old and says it aims to be profitable by March next year. Rivigo (operating under TrucksFirst Services) provides logistics services including full-truck load, part truck-load and cold chain to clients in e-commerce, consumer goods, automotive, retail and pharmaceuticals. The company says it has reduced truck transit times in India by 50–70% versus typical operators. It owns and operates over 2,000 trucks and has a pan-India network across 150 locations. Management says the new capital will be used to grow service offerings across India and to invest in technology and talent. Rivigo was founded in 2014 by Deepak Garg and Gazal Kalra; both are former McKinsey executives with IIT/IIM and Stanford/Harvard backgrounds, respectively. The company recently completed a Series C that strengthens its financial position after prior Series A and B financings in 2015. Launched in 2014 (formerly TrucksFirst), Rivigo operates its own fleet and has built a proprietary hardware and software platform to improve long‑haul road shipping. Its platform uses sensors to monitor temperature, security, location, fuel consumption and vehicle parts, and a smartphone app that automatically clocks drivers in and tracks hours and mileage. Rivigo runs a relay system that swaps drivers to reduce fatigue, which it says lowers transit times by 50–70 percent. The company aims to make long‑haul road shipping as quick and reliable as air freight. Much of the recent funding will be used to improve its hardware platform and sensor network to further enhance reliability and reduce breakdowns. Rivigo positions itself to benefit from growth in India’s manufacturing, e‑commerce, and retail sectors and potential tax reforms that could reduce the need for multiple regional warehouses.
