RMRK is developing an advanced NFT operating system and standards ("NFTs 2.0") to expand what non‑fungible tokens can do, including nestable NFTs, NFTs that can own or command other NFTs, fractional‑ownership DAOs, reactive conditional rendering, and multi‑resource assets. The project is building cross‑chain NFT infrastructure for the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems and intends to integrate its logic into partner runtimes rather than crowd parachain slots. RMRK’s first runtime‑based deployment will be with Unique Network, a dedicated NFT parachain, enabling near‑zero‑cost native teleportation of NFTs across supported chains. The team launched a gamified “initial collectible offering” called Kanaria on Kusama, selling limited‑edition egg NFTs and netting $2M in sales. Founder Bruno Škvorc, a Web3 Foundation alum, leads the project’s product and protocol work. The company plans to continue developing its standards and runtime integrations to enable more complex NFT projects across the Polkadot ecosystem.
