Roamer
Pulkveža Brieža iela 8 - 1, Rīga, LV-1010, Latvia
Overview
Roamer provides a mobile app and international SIM workflow that forwards calls to a travelers’ home number to a local number in the country they’re visiting so calls are answered at local rates. Users tell Roamer their home number and buy an international SIM; incoming calls are routed to the local SIM and answered as if at home. The company reports about 3,000 users and roughly 250,000 minutes of calls processed to date. Founders Simon Rabin, Petr Antropov and Nick Ustinov have prior experience in European telecom startups; Rabin created the mobile checkout app Txt2Buy and Ustinov founded inbox.lv. Roamer raised £300,000 in December and is closing a £1 million round with the Angel Co-fund and UK Angels. The company is working on a U.S. version of the service and will start shipping SIMs for users who prefer not to pick up local cards.
