Overview

Robosoft Technologies is a Udupi-based mobile solutions provider offering end-to-end mobile strategy, design and engineering across service segments. The company serves clients in India and abroad, with a majority of business coming from US-based clients. It will use the $12 million funding to bolster current service offerings, invest in products and drive user acquisition, and to build near-shore capability in the US, Europe and the Middle East. Two subsidiaries, 99Games and Global Delight, will be hived off as separate companies, with the new investments more or less equally distributed among the three entities. 99Games pursues licensed IPs for the Indian market and original IPs globally; its Star Chef title is growing over 30% month-on-month in monthly active users and monetization. Global Delight focuses on iOS/Apple platforms in audio, video and image domains; its Camera Plus app has recorded over 27 million downloads and was part of Apple’s Best of 2014, and the company will use funding to expand to Android and accelerate user acquisition. Robosoft is also developing apps for Apple Watch for its customers. Robosoft Technologies is a mobile app developer that builds apps for iOS, Android and Windows. Founded in 1996 and based in Karnataka, the company says it has developed more than 1,000 apps with over 100 million downloads and has a team of about 400 people. Historically focused on the US market, Robosoft has been gaining traction in Europe, the Middle East and India; India contributes about 15% of revenues and roughly 50% of business comes from the US. The company operates subsidiaries Global Delight and gaming subsidiary 99Games Online and plans to allocate about 40% of the new funding to these subsidiaries. Robosoft aims to expand overseas with planned offices in Dubai and London and to add roughly 100 hires, including about 20 senior sales, marketing and product development roles. It is shifting toward a full-service model to offer app design and strategy in addition to client-requested features.
