Roger

904 Pacific St Apt 202, Brooklyn, NY, 11238, United States

Overview

Roger offers a simple push-to-talk voice messaging app that lets users press a large button to record short voice messages and send them to friends. The app launched in late 2015 and was founded by ex-Spotify engineers Ricardo Vice Santos and Andreas Blixt; Vice Santos serves as CEO. Roger is initially on iOS with an Android version in beta and includes features such as linking to iMessage so recipients without the app can listen via a web-based recording. The product is designed for spontaneity (recordings cannot be cancelled and users can’t hear their own voice) and does not let recipients save incoming messages. The company reports "upwards of thousands" of users across more than 60 countries, and says monetization is not a focus at this stage. The team plans to develop contextual "glimpses" (location, weather, time-of-day) further to drive conversations; the founding team is multinational, which the company cites as informing product development.
