Roswell Biotechnologies is a molecular electronics company developing ENDSeq, an Electronic Nano-Device Sequencing platform that deploys single-molecule sensor nanotechnology on scalable semiconductor CMOS chips to read DNA. Founded in 2014 by Paul Mola, the company targets research, drug discovery and diagnostic markets with a goal of delivering a $100, 1-hour whole human genome for precision medicine. Its platform integrates nano-scale molecular electronic sensors into massively parallel CMOS sensor arrays to enable direct, real-time monitoring of polymerase activity for DNA sequencing. Roswell says the technology will deliver dramatic reductions in cost alongside improved speed, accuracy and simplicity compared with existing approaches. The company plans to use the newly raised capital to fuel R&D and expand operations across sensors, chips, instruments and applications. Roswell describes a roadmap to clinical-grade, low-cost whole-genome sequencing enabled by advances in CMOS, nano-fabrication and molecular electronic biosensors.
