Roto VR produces a motorized, interactive 360-degree chair that auto-rotates toward where the user is looking to enable prolonged VR sessions. The chair addresses physical problems encountered while seated in VR — such as motion sickness and tangled cables — and adds haptic/vibration feedback to enhance immersion. Its inbuilt desktop supports input devices like keyboard and mouse for 360-degree desktop computing, and the product is compatible with most VR head-mounted displays, games, movies and accessories such as racing wheels and joysticks. Founded in 2015 by video games industry veterans Elliott Myers and Gavin Waxkirsh, the company says it will imminently launch consumer and office versions of Roto and aims to market versions to cinemas and arcades. Demand for VR and gaming has risen during the COVID-19 pandemic, which the company cites as boosting prospects for wider adoption. Roto VR raised £1.5 million in a funding round led by Pembroke VCT as it moves toward commercial launches.
