RSVP Technologies builds natural language processing (NLP) and question-answering technology in Chinese and English for mobile devices, leveraging large Chinese datasets including a 200-million question-and-answer database, knowledge bases and bilingual translation data. The company says this combination makes its NLP product among the most advanced on the Chinese market. FedDev Ontario granted up to $950,000 to help RSVP finalize development, adapt the product for Chinese customers, and create targeted marketing and distribution channels. RSVP also secured $1.9 million in angel investment from members of the Golden Triangle Angel Network. The firm has signed contracts with NavInfo (Shandong), Huawei, and the Central Meteorological Bureau of China. The project is expected to create 38 jobs and maintain four others in the Waterloo region; RSVP is based in Waterloo, Ontario.
