Its debut title KingsRoad is in open beta and available on the web and Facebook, with more than one million monthly active players, average session lengths over an hour, and 40% of players engaging in real-time cooperative play daily. The company plans to expand KingsRoad to tablets and localized languages and is growing a slate that includes Ballistic (a first-person shooter) and Nightmare Guardians (a multiplayer tower-defense game). Rumble positions itself as a first-mover in the West on immersive F2P experiences and emphasizes multiplatform, synchronous multiplayer gameplay. The team is composed of industry veterans from companies such as Zynga, Activision, BioWare, Blizzard, Electronic Arts and others. Financially, Rumble has raised over $35 million to date and is financed by investors including Google Ventures and Khosla Ventures. Rumble builds and publishes premium, console-quality games distributed as free-to-play titles across web, mobile, and social platforms. Its system provides analytics, CRM, and cross-device distribution to host and support third-party developers. The company aims to deliver richer, short-session experiences targeted primarily at men under 35, positioning itself between casual free-to-play and traditional console markets. Leadership includes CEO Greg Richardson (former BioWare/Pandemic CEO) and hires such as Mark Spenner, John Yoo, and Paul Robinson; Rick Thompson is an investor and will sit on the board. Rumble was founded earlier this year and initially raised a few million dollars in seed funding.
