Overview
Rushmore.fm is a London-based music community startup co-founded by Fictive Kin and Betaworks and led by Alex Hunter, formerly Global Head of Online at Virgin Group. The platform lets users follow artists, contribute content to artist pages (which have a wiki-like edit model), and discover music, gigs, and releases. Rushmore plans to let artists claim and take ownership of their profiles and to enhance live interactive content after merging with Madrid-based live video startup Zuzeen. The Zuzeen integration will enable artists to broadcast live performances to fans via web and mobile apps, creating unique content that distinguishes Rushmore from other artist-to-fan services. The company highlighted prior collaboration with Zuzeen that drew 40,000 fans to Lang Lang’s Rushmore channel over ten days, including a live masterclass. Financially, Rushmore disclosed a new $1.2M funding round from Kibo Ventures and Betaworks to support the merger and product enhancements.
