The product pairs consumer-facing features, including a cashback rewards program, with hotel software that offers independent properties commission-free access. Safara enables guests who book directly on a hotel’s site to manage those reservations in the Safara app, aiming to elevate the guest experience. The company was founded by Doug Schuessler (CEO) and Cody Rose; Schuessler previously served as chief revenue officer at Resy. Safara announced an undisclosed funding round led by Sequoia and Defy.vc and has raised $14 million in funding to date. It also acquired Skipper, an online booking engine for independent hotels, and plans deeper product integration in 2025 to create new experiences for hotels and guests. The fresh capital will be used to scale product development and grow the number of hotels using its product as it focuses on empowering independent hotels with technology comparable to chains.
