Sagent Pharmaceuticals, based in Schaumburg, Illinois, develops, manufactures, sources and markets pharmaceutical injectable products. The company participates across development, manufacturing, sourcing and commercial activities for injectable drugs. It completed a strategic Series B financing totaling $40M in two tranches—$10M from Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. and $30M from an undisclosed China-focused private equity fund. To date, including this financing, Sagent has raised $153M in equity capital. Management, led by CEO, founder and chairman Jeffrey M. Yordon, says the investments will enrich strategic partnerships and extend access to additional products and facilities. The financing is expected to provide expanded access to Hisun's portfolio of active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished injectable product capabilities and to extend Sagent's reach into the Chinese injectable marketplace.
