Founded in 2021 and based in Vannes, Sailcoop is a cooperative that builds and operates sail-powered passenger services as low‑carbon alternatives to motorboats, ferries, and airplanes. Its flagship project is the Corsica FAVORITE, an 80‑passenger sail catamaran intended to serve crossings between the French mainland and Corsica, with an envisaged entry into service in 2027. The cooperative model includes more than 3,300 sociétaires who participate in governance and funding; Sailcoop is currently financing growth through a public subscription of social shares. Operational goals tied to the campaign include increasing passengers transported to Corsica from roughly 1,500 to 5,000 at launch and expanding short-distance lines in Brittany, with longer-term plans that include study work for a transatlantic liner. Financially, the coop has secured €240,000 of a €400,000 goal, aiming to use proceeds to hire commercial staff, run national communications, invest in vessel construction, and reduce dependence on bank financing.
