Salt & Fiber

Nordenskiöldsgatan 24, Malmö, Skåne län, 211 19, Sweden

Overview

Salt & Fiber processes beach-cast seagrass into fibres and yarns that the company says are plant-based, biodegradable, and free of synthetic polymers and microplastic shedding. The founder, Annika John, launched the company in 2025 and it is currently piloting production while participating in the Älmhult x IKEA incubator. Salt & Fiber reports a supply agreement with a Swedish municipality and aims to commercialise its materials between 2027 and 2028. The company highlights that its fibres require no fresh water, fertilisers or land to produce, and that its processing excludes harmful chemicals and toxic by-products. Financially, it has secured €300k in pre-Seed funding and is running a €45,000 crowdfunding campaign, with plans to donate a portion of crowdfunding proceeds to seagrass restoration.
