Overview
Salv is a Tallinn, Estonia-based regtech SaaS company that provides anti-money laundering, fraud detection, and cybersecurity tools for the financial sector. Its core product is a real-time collaborative financial crime-fighting network that enables tactical information sharing across organizations, sectors, and borders. Salv markets a collaborative investigations platform called Salv Bridge, aimed at helping compliance teams investigate and combat financial fraud. The company is focusing expansion efforts in the UK to address a surge in Authorized Push Payment (APP) fraud. Salv will use the new funding to support that UK expansion and strengthen its efforts to combat financial crime. As of December 2023, the company has raised a total of €12.1 million. Salv develops anti-money-laundering (AML) software centered on a pilot programme called AML Bridge that uses Privacy Enhancing Technology (PET) to enable secure, privacy-preserving data sharing between banks and regulators. The AML Bridge pilot launched in Estonia with cooperation from four major Estonian banks (LHV, Luminor, SEB Estonia and Swedbank Estonia) and national regulators including the Financial Supervisory Authority and Financial Intelligence Unit. Salv positions the product as a collaborative crime-fighting model intended to set a new AML standard across Europe if the pilot proves successful. The company says interested parties in Latvia, Lithuania and the United Kingdom are likely next targets for proof-of-concept deployments and plans to expand the pilot to several EU countries. Salv was founded in 2019 and its core team includes former TransferWise and Skype employees with experience building AML, fraud and KYC capabilities. Financially, Salv closed a €1.5 million funding round and has raised more than €3.2 million in venture capital to date, with backing from a mix of VC firms and angel investors. Salv offers a software platform designed to move AML beyond regulatory compliance toward proactive financial-crime fighting. The product emphasizes fast setup and integration—Salv says it takes a month or less to set up—and rapid rule changes that can be made in minutes. The company positions its system as lighter and faster than legacy AML tools, enabling banks to encode new criminal patterns quickly and iterate daily. Salv targets Tier 2 and Tier 3 banks, regulated fintechs, and challenger banks; its first customer is Estonian bank LHV and it also counts Lithuanian fintechs including DeVere e-Money. The business model is a monthly subscription with pricing that varies based on the number of active customers a bank or fintech has. Salv was founded in June 2018 by former TransferWise and Skype employees with deep experience in AML, fraud, and KYC.
