Samabriva has developed a proprietary plant-based bioproduction platform that produces secondary metabolites and recombinant proteins for pharmaceutical and cosmetic customers. The platform combines plant-based advantages (low cost, serum- and animal-free) with large-scale bioreactor production to deliver continuous, reliable and environmentally sustainable manufacture year-round. The company positions its system as a scalable alternative to field-grown plants and to bacterial or mammalian cell cultures that can be costly or require extensive purification. Samabriva plans to develop its first industrial production site in the Liège region of Belgium while maintaining its research center in Amiens, France. Management intends to transform the company into a fully fledged CDMO focused initially on Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) production using confined plant-based expression systems. The company has received regional support from Service public de Wallonie (SPW) and financial backing from Banque publique d'investissement (BPI) in France.
