Samsa runs an online cryptocurrency index platform that lets users create custom portfolios composed of multiple indexes with varying volatility and exposure. The platform is designed to let investors hold multiple cryptocurrencies and to offer less volatility than single-coin holdings, and it also facilitates trading of Bitcoin and Ethereum. CEO Chris Slaughter pivoted to Samsa from a hedge fund startup called Paladar Capital. The bootstrapped company reports more than 1,000 customers using its platform. Samsa won a $100,000 award from Capital Factory’s Blockchain Investment Challenge at SXSW and plans to use the funds to develop an educational portal. The company is based in Austin and is promoting more advanced, hedge-fund-like strategies for crypto investors.
