Samsonite
575 West Street, Suite 110, Mansfield, MA, 02048, United States
Overview
Samsonite designs, manufactures, and sells luggage under the Samsonite, American Tourister, and Kamiliant brands, serving premium, mass-premium, and mass-market price points, respectively. Backed by rising disposable incomes, greater domestic travel, and demand from smaller towns, India has become the company’s third-largest market after the United States and China. In 2024 the firm generated $210 million in India sales, with American Tourister contributing about 60 % of local revenue, and e-commerce channels accounting for roughly one-third of overall business. A Rs 250 crore investment has lifted monthly output at its Nashik factory from roughly 225,000 units pre-2019 to about 700,000 units today, enabling the company to begin exporting 10 % of production to Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. Management plans to open 400 additional Indian stores (expanding from 600 to 1,000) while continuing to grow online sales, which already represent 16 % of revenue via Amazon, Flipkart, and the Canteen Stores Department. The Nashik plant is now one of Samsonite’s largest facilities globally, and the firm is scouting sites across North, South, and East India for its next manufacturing expansion. In Q3 2025, India net sales rose 8.5 % period-over-period, reversing a 2.7 % decline in Q2, and American Tourister sales increased 2.9 % in the same quarter. Samsonite’s multi-brand portfolio and ongoing capacity additions position it to benefit from sustained growth in India’s travel and luggage market.
