Saphena Medical

375 West Street, West Bridgewater, MA, 02379, United States

Overview

Saphena Medical develops the Venapax Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting System, an endoscopic device for vein harvesting. The device features a flexible tip that stays closed during dissection and expands when electrodes are deployed, with bi-directional circumferential rotation to access vessel side branches. Deployable and retractable electrodes enable bipolar cauterization and a double-sided blade that cuts tissue after cauterization. Saphena spun out of Pavilion Medical Innovations, which was formed out of Catalyst Health Ventures, and is led by Pavilion founder Michael Glennon. The company launched last year with a $3 million Series A that the company said was sufficient to push through regulatory clearance. It is now kicking off a Series B and has reported $1.2 million raised so far of a potential $3 million round, according to a regulatory filing.
