Overview
Founded in 2024 by Kevin Hartz, Jack Abraham and roboticist Vasumathi Raman, Sauron is building a ‘super-premium’ residential security platform that combines multi-sensor camera pods (up to 40 cameras per pod with potential LiDAR, radar and thermal imaging), edge- and server-based computer-vision software, and a 24/7 concierge staffed by former military and law-enforcement professionals. The system aims to deter threats before a break-in by detecting suspicious behaviors—such as cars circling a neighborhood—and deploying active measures like loudspeakers or flashing lights. New CEO Maxime “Max” Bouvat-Merlin (ex-Sonos CPO) is currently finalizing sensor choices, deterrence tactics and go-to-market sequencing. Product launch has slipped from an original Q1-2025 target to “later in 2026 at the earliest,” with a phased rollout to early adopters before wider availability. The company employs fewer than 40 people and expects to add 10–12 hires in 2026. Financially, Sauron has secured $18 million in initial funding and is planning a Series A raise in mid-2026 to fund product launch, customer adoption and roadmap acceleration. No revenue or user metrics have been disclosed, as the product is still in development.
