It intends to grow its market presence in Central Europe and begin initial steps into the U.S. market. The company will launch two new products, the sam5 pro and the samX, in the second and third quarters of 2011. SAW Instrument closed a second financing round to support these expansion and product plans. SAW Instruments develops, produces and distributes biosensor-based analysis systems for the life science market, with applications in medical, pharmaceutical, diagnostics and biotechnology research. Its SAW-based, marker-free detection technology can identify a wide variety of substances and analyze their physical mechanisms with high precision. SAW Instruments received an undisclosed amount of equity funding from High‑Tech Gründerfonds and KI Kapital. The investment is intended to enable commercialization of the systems to the research market. Investors highlighted the technology’s advantages versus competing marker-free detection products and the prospect of expanding into numerous other markets.
