Overview
Scale Microgrids develops, finances, owns and operates distributed energy assets and microgrids that integrate solar, battery storage and other on-site energy resources. The company provides financing to project developers and directly helps large energy-consuming customers take greater control of their energy supply. Scale’s projects target commercial and industrial customers as well as community-scale solar and battery storage facilities and end users such as universities, hospitals, businesses, and communities. The Truist transaction will support construction of projects to be built over the next 18 months across multiple states including California, Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania. Scale has diversified capital sources, having previously secured a $300 million equity investment from Warburg Pincus, a project finance debt facility of up to $225 million from KeyBanc Capital Markets and City National Bank, and access to the tax credit transfer market via a partnership with Captona. The company positions itself to offer flexible capital-stack solutions for microgrid and distributed-energy projects.
