Overview

Scarosso makes and sells handcrafted Italian shoes through its e-commerce platform and six retail stores, offering ready-to-wear, bespoke and customized designs. The company is vertically integrated, working directly with Italian manufacturers and sourcing leather from tanneries in the South of France and Italy. By cutting out wholesale channels it aims to deliver luxury products at roughly half the price of competitors. Scarosso reported growth of over 300% in 2013 and has recruited fashion industry figures as advisors. The brand operates retail locations in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Vienna and sells internationally online. Management has stated plans to expand further internationally. Scarosso is a Berlin-based online luxury shoe brand that offers premium-quality Italian shoes and accessories. Founded in 2010 at the Milan University Commerciale Luigi Bocconi by CEO Moritz Offeney and COO Marco Reiter, the company leverages relationships with Italian manufacturers to deliver its products. It has begun expanding into retail, opening its first store in Hamburg and planning a Berlin store in the coming months. The company intends to use new funding to launch a women's collection designed by Marco Censi and Guillaume Hinfray, accelerate development of its retail operations and expand international distribution. Scarosso raised a Series A funding of undisclosed amount led by DN Capital, with participation from IBB Venture Capital’s Kreativwirtschaft Berlin, Perikles Ventures and other local angel investors. The company is based in Berlin and employs more than 30 people.
