Science Inc is a startup creation studio based in Santa Monica that builds and launches new technology companies. Founded in 2011, the firm says it has created 13 startups in the last 18 months. The company was initially funded with $10 million from Tomorrow Ventures (Google Chairman Eric Schmidt), Rustic Canyon Partners and White Star Capital. Hearst Ventures is making a minority equity investment close to $30 million for a stake above 20 percent. Hearst said it will partner with Science to continue its trajectory, gain industry knowledge and utilize Science’s platforms for current and future Hearst investments. Science recently refreshed its website with whimsical moving backgrounds.
