Overview

ScoreBig is a Los Angeles, Calif.-based online marketplace that lets consumers save on live event tickets. The platform also helps the live entertainment industry move unsold ticket inventory in an opaque manner. Led by CEO David Goldberg, the company was founded in 2009. ScoreBig recently received a $7M venture loan from Horizon Technology Finance Corporation to support operations. The company intends to use the funds for general working capital purposes. It is backed by investors including Checketts Partners Investment Fund, Hearst Ventures and U.S. Venture Partners. ScoreBig was founded in 2009 and operates an online bidding platform that contracts with event producers and professional resellers to obtain unsold tickets at undisclosed prices below face value. The company says consumers save an average of 40 percent below box office prices. ScoreBig raised $18 million in a Series D led by Heart Ventures and said the capital will be used to grow its online and mobile products, establish strategic partnerships, and fund marketing. The round brings ScoreBig’s total funding to $49.5 million. George Kliavkoff, co‑president of Hearst Entertainment & Syndication, was added to ScoreBig’s board of directors. The company also said it expects to more than double its revenue this year. ScoreBig.com operates an opaque consumer marketplace for unsold sports, concert and theater tickets where customers pick their own price, always pay less than box office and never pay fees. The platform is presented as a brand‑protecting channel for venues, teams, promoters and producers to move unsold inventory. The company reported over 600% revenue growth in 2012 and has been recognized by Forbes and Billboard, while adding senior executives and partners such as the United Airlines MileagePlus program. ScoreBig says it will use new capital to expand its product offering, pursue strategic partnerships and increase consumer awareness. The business is backed by Bain Capital Ventures and U.S. Venture Partners. ScoreBig was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, Calif. ScoreBig operates a members-only site offering deep discounts on sports, concert, and theater tickets nationwide. Consumers can name their desired price and select seating preferences; inventory owners (venues, teams, producers, promoters) can accept or deny bids in a Priceline-like model. The company says every ticket on the site is sold below face value (roughly 10–70% off) and that delivery is free. Membership is free but invitation-only, following a flash-sales style approach. ScoreBig was founded by CEO Adam Kanner and COO/CTO Joel Milne. Financially, the company has raised $22.5 million to date, including a new $14 million Series B.
