SearchInk

Perleberger Str. 42C, Haus 7, Berlin, 10559

Overview

SearchInk develops Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) technology that converts handwritten text into machine-readable formats and applies semantic labeling so documents can be searched and analyzed. The company emphasizes multi-writer recognition and a self-learning, unsupervised machine-learning approach that aims to scale without manual tuning for different handwriting styles and layouts. Its platform is pitched for high-volume B2B and institutional use cases where unlocking handwritten content can cut costs and increase efficiency, with mid-term potential for consumer note-taking applications. SearchInk cooperates with UPV Universitat Politècnica de València and the Computer Vision Center (CVC) in Barcelona on its technology development. The team is led by co-founder Sofie Quidenus and includes Eric Pfarl (CIO), Stephan Dorfmeister (CFO), Martin Micko (COO) and Harald Gölles (CTO); Quidenus previously founded Qidenus Technologies. The company was founded in 2015 and is based in Berlin. Financially, SearchInk has just closed seed funding of $4.5 million (≈€4.2 million) to advance product development and go-to-market efforts. Early next year the company plans to announce a new site launch and a business partnership to make the technology accessible to individuals, academia and corporates.
