Season Health provides a food-as-medicine platform that delivers personalized recipes, pre-made meals, grocery support, nutrition education and one-on-one meetings with registered dietitians. The company recently expanded its provider network from dozens to hundreds via a strategic asset acquisition from Wellory. Season plans to use the new funding to develop and scale food-as-medicine programs, including initiatives for diabetes and high-risk pregnancy. It is also focused on expanding partnerships with providers and payers to broaden access. In early 2024 Season Health will launch two programs with the Froedtert & MCW health system to give employees in-network access to its dietitian practice and a value-based diabetes care program. To date the company has raised $45 million in total. Season Health operates a "digital food pharmacy" where patients are paired with dietitians to create medically tailored meal plans addressing conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, and food allergies or personal preferences. Patients can choose from suggested meals and have ingredients and recipes delivered to their homes. The startup launched out of stealth earlier this year and has announced partnerships with health systems CommonSpirit Health and Geisinger, and with chronic kidney disease-focused Cricket Health. Season raised $34 million in a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz after previously raising $11 million in seed funding. The company plans to use the financing to build its business development and operations teams and to support integrations and partnerships with food retailers. Its platform aims to translate dietary advice into actual food delivery and reimbursement workflows to make food-as-medicine more accessible.
