SeatSmart is an online broker-to-fan ticket marketplace that recently launched in San Antonio. The site aggregates hundreds of thousands of tickets for sporting events, concerts and theater shows and reportedly lists more than $100 million of preferred tickets from brokers. The company says it offers tickets at 5–50% less than other ticket brokers by charging brokers a flat fee to list inventory and not adding customer markups. SeatSmart spun out of Best Tickets, a ticket broker founded by CEO Brett Cohen’s father roughly 20 years ago; the company currently has five employees. Co-founders are Brett Cohen (CEO), Jerome Cohen (chairman), Aaron Pearson (CTO) and Andrew Powell-Morse (CMO). The company plans to use the funding to hire additional employees, continue product development and invest in marketing.
