SEC Technologies is a Slovak technology company that developed the Falcon 4G device for remote gas detection at distances up to 6 kilometres. The fourth-generation model uses a laser to detect toxic gases, industrial chemicals and biologically harmful substances and is described as the only active remote detector on the world market. The company reports up to 100 times higher sensitivity compared with foreign competitors and has undergone testing in the United States, several EU countries, South East Asia and the Middle East. Existing customers include armed forces and civil protection organisations such as firefighters and other security forces. SEC Technologies plans to use the investment to increase production capacity and expand into the civilian and environmental protection markets. The funding will also support R&D and is expected to create new jobs in Liptovský Mikuláš over the next two years, with about half of the new positions in research and development. SEC Technologies, founded in 2014 and built on over 30 years of prior institutional research, develops, produces and distributes mobile detection devices for identification and measurement of chemical and biological warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals. Its products are active LIDAR-based stand-off detectors capable of detecting threats at distances up to several kilometers without physical contact and are described as battlefield-proven. SEC’s active detectors claim markedly longer range (up to ~20x) and greater sensitivity (up to ~30x) than passive alternatives, plus the ability to detect biological agents and provide concentration profiles. The company already has a fully functional product and a straightforward manufacturing procedure, and it supplies defence industry customers across Europe and the Middle East. IPM Growth has made an investment intended to help SEC meet existing production demand and expand its international market reach.
