Sedivention is developing a minimally invasive outpatient therapy that uses a specially designed balloon catheter to deliver targeted cryoablation to interrupt hunger-related signals in the vagus nerve. A functional prototype has been developed and tested, and the company aims to generate initial clinical data via a first-in-human study. With the €2.9M seed round, Sedivention plans to advance product development and prepare for regulatory and market-entry steps. The therapy is intended as a one-time procedure without implants or ongoing medication and aims to offer a scalable alternative to bariatric surgery and chronic drug therapies. In the long term, Sedivention seeks to replace highly invasive surgical procedures with outpatient interventional treatments to improve access to effective obesity care.
